Breastplates

Wolf Creek Art breastplates are finely crafted of quality materials. Elk antler is strung on deerskin with semi-precious stone beads with deerskin spacers and braided ties. Horsehair is traditionally used with shell and feathers. The breastplate at right is made of turquoise and black jet stone beads with mother of pearl, a spiny oyster shell and macaw feathers, with a four directions design pattern in the beading.

By wearing, using or displaying the art and artifacts of our first nations, we honor our ancestors and the spirit of a brave and noble people.

Mark Barfoot's work is in the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian.
